Most Hot Water Systems have a life expectancy of 5 to 10 years, depending on the manufacturer. Make sure you know the manufacture date of your system (appears in the specifications printed on the heater). If your system is older than 10 years, you should consider replacing it before it splits and leaks. If you notice that your hot water is discoloured, it could indicate that a component of your Hot Water System is rusting. It is uncommon for a Hot Water System to rust on the outside before the inside; So it is important to have a Sydney plumber check the inside if you notice any changes, as from the outside it may look fine. High water pressure is the most common reason for a Hot Water Heater to split and leak. Early morning is the time that water pressure is the highest, making this the most likely time for a Sydney plumbing emergency. Having a plumbing emergency at this time also means that you will be charged at the Emergency Plumbing Rate, so this problem is best avoided! Make sure your Hot Water System is not in a place that would be badly damaged by water; if it is located near by carpet, furniture etc. it may be best to have a plumber put a try under the cylinder to keep water damage at a minimum in the event that the Hot Water System cracks and leaks. Our fully qualified Sydney plumbers can provide all of your Hot Water System and Heater maintenance and installation.
